Introduction
This course will cover the basics of Visual Otthymo (VO). You will learn about the model structure, workflow, interface layout and how it could be used to meet stormwater management criteria for development sites. A real-life modelling project will be showcased to demonstrate the application and model findings.

- Specializes in hydrological modelling, GIS and Software.
Michael (Zhiqiang) Yu is the Software Business Unit Leader at Civica Infrastructure, overseeing the development of all software products including Visual OTTHYMO, DataCurrent, Flood Forecasting and SWMSoft. Michael manages a group of UX designers, software developers and testers to bring the best experience to our clients. Michael is also the trainer for our VO training program and has given more than 20 training courses in past few years.
Prior to joining Civica, Michael undertook a postdoctoral research on hydrological modelling at the University of Guelph and AAFC. His research focused on distributed hydrological modelling, SWAT, snow accumulation and redistribution and agriculture best management practices.
Michael specialized in municipal engineering with a focus on water distribution system modelling throughout his education. Some of the achievements during his master’s and Ph.D. study include the development of a best sampling location design to calibrate the water distribution system models by applying optimization algorithms and the development of an asset management system for water distribution system using GIS.
