Speaker’s Biography
Zhenyong (Zen) Li is the founder of ZEL Consulting Inc., a municipal engineering consulting firm in the Land Development industry. Prior to starting his own company in 2018, Zen was a partner and Design Manager at DSEL, a municipal engineering firm in GTA for 17 years. Previously, Zen joined and held positions as Senior Project Manager / Engineer at Chisholm, Fleming and Associates, Site Inspector at Ander Engineering Ltd., in GTA, Canada, and Site Plan Designer at Tritech Associates Inc., in California, USA. Over the course of his professional career, Zen has more than 20 years of experience in North America and about 10 years of experience in China.
During his career in Canada, Zen has managed and led teams of professionals, designed hundreds of residential, commercial and industrial subdivisions and site plans across GTA and Greater Ottawa Area. Zen is an expert with significant achievements in leading and providing the cost-effective designs and timely delivery while creating a long-term partnership with clients, including design of roads, sanitary and storm sewer, watermain, stormwater management facilities and lot grading, and in construction administration and site inspection as well.
Zen earned a M.S. degree from California State University, Long Beach, USA in Civil Engineering and a B.S. degree in Building Engineering from Tongji University, China. Zen has obtained P. Eng. designation of PEO since 2001 and has also held Consulting Engineer Designation of PEO since 2014.
