Objective
To enhance the engagement and participation of junior professionals and students in the environmental and municipal engineering fields within CCEMP, fostering a dynamic, supportive community that contributes to professional growth and networking.
Initiatives
- Recruitment of Student Ambassador
- Goal: Establish a network of student ambassador across major engineering universities and colleges in Ontario.
- Action Plan:
- Identify key institutions, including the University of Toronto, McMaster University, Western University, the University of Waterloo, Queen's University, and colleges like Seneca.
- Develop criteria and a selection process for student representatives, focusing on leadership, engagement, and interest in environmental and municipal engineering.
- Coordinate with university departments and student societies to promote these opportunities.
- Provide training and resources for student representatives to effectively act as liaisons between CCEMP and their peers.
- Engagement with WeChat Group Members
- Goal: Understand and connect with students and junior professionals within the CCEMP WeChat group.
- Action Plan:
- Implement a structured introduction process for new members to share their backgrounds and interests.
- Launch a Free Membership Initiative as a means to collect comprehensive data while offering value to the members.
- Utilize this data to tailor communications, events, and opportunities to the interests and needs of the group members.
- Regular Online Career Chats/Seminars
- Goal: Provide consistent, valuable career development opportunities for students and junior professionals.
- Action Plan:
- Schedule regular online sessions, such as career chats, Q&A with industry professionals, and seminars on relevant topics.
- Leverage the Online Event Management SOP to ensure smooth planning and execution, emphasizing cybersecurity, accessibility, and participant support.
- Promote these events across CCEMP's digital platforms and through university channels to maximize attendance and engagement.
- Mentorship Program Development
- Goal: Explore the feasibility of establishing a mentorship program to connect junior members with experienced professionals.
- Action Plan:
- Conduct a survey to gauge interest levels among both potential mentors and mentees within the CCEMP community.
- Identify challenges and solutions, particularly the current lack of available mentors.
- Consider partnerships with industry organizations to expand the pool of potential mentors.
- Develop a pilot program, keeping scalability and sustainability in mind.
